New information has come to light concerning the untimely demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account quoting a family associate, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the home. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently being held without bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

Additionally disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to accounts of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
