Los Angeles Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Secure Second World Series Victory
The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a nail-biting seven-game World Series title. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a team has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Attracts Massive Turnout
Local events featured a downtown parade on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Online footage depict countless of Angelenos packing downtown streets, many displaying handmade banners and team flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, hoisting the championship trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the team walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist driving a light blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities began prior to the procession, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The World Series MVP, awarded the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the win.
“Losing is not an option,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and City Unity
However, the team owner received a less warm reception at the celebration. Recordings from the event appear to show Walter taking the stage to a mix of cheers and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, fans this year demonstrated equal or greater enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
