Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
