A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life without fear.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The trend became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
